She was inspired to write a romance novel after a conversation with a professional female dancer who told her that she had written a book for all women going through the same situation as Cassandre was going through at the time – being single at 30 years old. That book was "Running with Wolves", which won the Golden Quill Award for Best Debut Author in 2016 (her debut title). Her first career as an author was music journalism; writing articles on music, touring bands and writing liner notes for CDs for independent Australian record labels such as Kicking Mule Records (a band she writes about once a month on their anniversary) and Metropolis Records (a band she writes about every year on their anniversary). This involved traveling around Australia interviewing bands that were either releasing or touring new albums; this work really helped her pen her first novel "Playing with Wolves" which is based on real life experiences of what it is like to date musicians from different countries where they tour every year such as Australia and America.
